Robert A. Boyd, Esq.

Bankruptcy – A fresh start…not a failure....

The underlying purpose of the Bankruptcy Code is to provide individuals with a fresh start. The vast majority of filers call me after struggling for many months with medical bills and credit card debt. In recent years I have represented many seniors who become overwhelmed with debt on their limited retirement income. Others call after getting behind in their house payments when the bank demands all of the arrearage and late fees.

Relief is often available under Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 of the Bankruptcy Code. My philosophy is to identify issues early and provide clients with options and straightforward explanations of the Bankruptcy process.

Recent changes to the Bankruptcy Code were sweeping and required a renewed commitment from lawyers practicing in this area to learn and understand those changes and to be familiar with the Bankruptcy Court’s paperless electronic filing and computer systems. I have been representing clients before the Bankruptcy Court for over 25 years and will continue to do so.

Those same changes to the Bankruptcy laws require that I identify myself as a “debt relief agency” - because I help people file for relief under the Bankruptcy Code.
